[ju'naɪtid steɪts ɪntə'næʃnl kɔmjuːnɪ'keɪʃn 'eɪdʒənsɪ], Abkürzung USICA [juːesaɪsɪː'eɪ], amerikanische Bundesbehörde für Öffentlichkeitsarbeit und Förderung des kulturellen Austauschs mit anderen Ländern. Als Mittel dienen Pressedienste, Zeitschriften, Filme, der Rundfunksender Stimme Amerikas, eigene Informationszentren und Bibliotheken (Amerikahäuser), Sprachkurse, Tagungen, Ausstellungen und seit 1978 Buchförderungs-, Bibliotheks- und Austauschprogramme (z. B. Fulbright-Programm; »East-West-Center«, Honolulu). Die USICA wurde am 1. 4. 1978 als Nachfolgeorganisation der United States Information Agency (USIA, gegründet 1953) und der früheren Abteilung für kulturelle Angelegenheiten beim Außenministerium (Bureau of Cultural and Educational Affairs) gegründet.
